Terrorism: A 21st Century Threat

"Which Way, LA?" is off today. In its place we are airing "Terrorism: The 21st Century Threat", a one-hour special examining America's readiness to defend against international terrorism. Terrorism is fast becoming the highest priority of U.S. foreign policy for the 21st century. The Clinton administration is proposing to spend nearly eleven billion dollars on counter-terrorism: increased CIA and FBI budgets, research into public health risks, equipping cities for domestic defense, and reinforcing embassies and military bases around the world. With terrorism on the rise, how is the United States preparing itself to combat a problem that can be unpredictable, and nearly always deadly?
