The Arts as Victims of the Economic Recession

The Los Angeles City Council has agreed to spend $42 million to keep elephants at the LA Zoo. But theater, ballet, opera and art museums are in big trouble in Southern California. Also, last year, 2.5 million Americans lost their jobs. This year the "best case scenario” is 3 million more.
