The London Bombings and LA's MTA

Hosted by
The toll in London remains at 37 dead and 700 injured after today's bombings on four subway lines and a double-decker bus. In Los Angeles, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa has been riding the subway and light rail lines tonight to reassure passengers that LA's transit system is safe. There has been no intelligence to indicate that the MTA is in danger, even though US Department of Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff has raised the federal threat-level from yellow to orange, signifying a "high risk" of attack. We hear from Sheriff Lee Baca and others about what that means, and get local reaction to a senior Congressman-s claim that commuter systems should be provided with the same security measures now in effect at airports.
