What to do with nuclear waste?

Hosted by
Congress wants to build a huge nuclear waste repository at Yucca Mountain, Nevada to store the country's wealth of waste for thousands of years. Nevada doesn't like the idea, even though the state has served as ground zero for numerous nuclear arms tests in the past. Where should the waste from nuclear reactors go? Is it safe to transport such waste on the nation's highways or railways? Is it safe to keep it on the site of the country's nuclear reactors?
