In this moving interview, Sandra Cisneros reveals the connection between history and family history: the processes of memory. She examines the importance of specific remembered details, and the art of arranging these details into paragraphs, then finding patterns emerging from those paragraphs. This sequential process constitutes the art of writing for Cisneros and helped her to build this monumental new book Caramelo (Knopf).
