You know you do it… Food falls on the floor, you hurry to pick it up, brush off the dog hair and pop it in your mouth. The “five-Second rule,” is our excuse. Well, it’s now officially part of the English language, at least according to the Oxford English Dictionary. Also added were “Muffin top,” “Taquito” “California Roll” and “Banh Mi.”

Harold McGee once wrote about the “5-second rule” in the New York Times, a piece he then spoke to Evan about on Good Food (click more to hear the interview).
