Every Tuesday I answer a question from a Good Food listener. You can email me a question, leave one on Facebook or add one in the comments section here. This week’s question comes from Gary:

Is there a trick to getting the smell of raw onions and garlic off of your hands? Having all those years in the restaurant business, I’m sure you’ve come across a few great chef tips and tricks.

I think those of us in the culinary profession get used to being a bit “fragrant”. Mostly because most solutions tend to be exfoliating or stinging if you have many little nicks and cuts on your hands.

Soaking or rubbing your hands with lemon or tomato juice is a good one. As is rubbing your hands on stainless steel, like a spoon or faucet.

Here is a complete list of all the “remedies” I’ve heard of that have a good change of working.
