Every Tuesday I answer a question from a Good Food listener. You can email me a question, leave one on Facebook or add one in the comments section here. This week’s question comes from Susan:

I am curious…how does a Foodie become a food writer, Evan? Do you have any suggestions?

This might seem a disingenuous answer, but the best way to become a writer whatever the subject is to write. Just start writing – first for yourself, then you can do what countless others have done and create a blog. If it’s good people will find you. Being a writer requires writing – a lot. I don’t know if I even qualify. Find your voice. Try to get what’s in your head down on paper as unvarnished as possible. Then rewrite, keeping your voice and correcting the English. Of course, reading is a corollary to writing. Read as much as you can of a variety of sources and styles. And not just about food.
