Celine Clanet Photographs the Reindeer Herders of Northern Norway

French photographer, Celine Clanet, originally traveled to northern Norway as a tourist and has returned in subsequent years to document the area and its people. The Sami people in this photo series spend the winter herding reindeer.

When we think of reindeers they are our Christmas friends pulling Santa’s sleigh, but it’s not so for the Sami people. They live at the highest point of the European map, far above the Arctic Circle, and for them reindeer aren’t a seasonal construct – they are an everyday part of life. French photographer, Celine Clanet, originally traveled to the region as a tourist and has returned in subsequent years to document the area and its people. Her images can be found in her book of photographs named after their small village, Máze.
