Hawaiians have a thing for haupia. What’s haupia, you ask? Somewhere between jello and pudding, haupia is a gelatinous dessert made of coconut milk, sugar and salt mixed with arrowroot or cornstarch to thicken. Add a layer of chocolate pudding to the mix, along with just the right amount of whipped cream, and you’ve got the recipe for Jonah’s favorite chocolate haupia pie.
