Summertime always brings us lots of opportunities to support great organizations by eating really well. All we have to do is choose our event and buy a little something to eat. This Sunday there are two events I’d like to share. If you have good time management skills you could even manage to do both of them.

You can start your morning at The Hollywood Farmers Market where Cooks County‘s Roxana Jullapat has organized a bunch of her talented colleagues in a bake sale to benefit the Larchmont Edible Schoolyard. This is the first time this stellar group of pastry pushers has collaborated on a fundraiser. So go by the market and buy some baked goods to go with your morning coffee.

Then after you are completely awake, go home, get dressed and get back in the car to head over to Culver City for the Taste of the Nation ‘s 25th Annual chef tasting orgy. This year’s chef line-up is particularly impressive. The money earned goes to end childhood hunger right here in Los Angeles. The event goes from 1-4pm. I’ll be joining Jonathan Gold and Aida Mollenkamp to judge a Burger Battle between Kris Morningstar of Ray’s and Fig’s Ray Garcia.

Once again, here are the deets for your day of eating too much while doing much good.

MORNING:

When: 8:30 till Market Closes or they run out of stuff

What: Bakers Will Bake Bake Sale

Benefit Larchmont Edible Schoolyard

Where: Hollywood Farmers Market

AFTERNOON:

When: 1-4pm

What: 25th Annual Taste of the Nation

End Childhood Hunger in LA

Where: Culver City Media Park, 9070 Venice Blvd.
