Our first stop in Austin will be Franklin Barbecue where Aaron Franklin is serving the best brisket in Texas.

We are excited to be in Austin during SXSW for a live podcast event and a panel during the second annual SouthBites conference.

All weekend we will be talking to local chefs, including BBQ master Aaron Franklin and Top Chef champion Paul Qui. Plus, we have a BBQ roadtrip planned to Snow’s BBQ in Lexington, where female pitmaster Tootsie Tomanetz has over 50 years of BBQ experience under her belt.

Tune in to the March 21st broadcast of Good Food to hear how it all goes down.

If you’ll be in town for the SXSW festivities, join us at the Driskill Hotel during the SouthBites conference on Sunday, March 15 for a live podcast event. We will be recording interviews for future broadcast on Good Food. The event takes place in the Jim Hogg parlor from 10am to 5:30pm. Here’s the schedule:

10am Food as Lifestyle with Bon Appetit’s Adam Rapoport and Andrew Knowlton

10:30am Creating Chef Watson with Florian Pinel

11am Change in the Grocery Aisle with “Supermarket Guru” Phil Lempert

2pm The Kitchen as Sanctuary with chef Curtis Duffy and “For Grace” Directors Kevin Pang and Mark Helenowski

2:30pm How Tech is Changing Your Coffee with Erin Meister and Cameron Hughes

3pm A Look at the Museum of Food and Drink with Peter Kim and Emma Boast

4:30pm The Changing Face of Food Writing with Alison Cook and Helen Rosner

5pm Applying Kickstarter Culture to the Good Food Movement with Eileen and Michael Chiarello

5:30pm How Austin Became a Food City with critic Matthew Odam

On Monday, March 16, Evan will moderate Food Criticism in the Digital Age with panelists Jonathan Gold (LA Times), Alison Cook (Houston Chronicle) and Helen Rosner (Eater) at the Driskill Hotel at 5pm. They’ll discuss how these talented writers have adapted their craft in the era of Yelp, and how they foresee the future of food criticism.
