Lay’s Mobile Farm Hits The Grove in LA

Is summer camp over? And you’re just waiting for school to start? Need something to do tomorrow? Here’s an idea:

Lay’s potato chips has created a mobile greenhouse designed to bring a rural farm experience to cities across the country. “Lay’s Mobile Farm,” a 70-foot long, 10-foot wide and 14-foot high traveling greenhouse will be in LA tomorrow (Tuesday, August 17), at The Grove. Families will be able to meet some farmers, and interact with a few exhibits. They’ll also have 8,000 basil plants that they’re giving away. One of the featured farmers is Brian Kirschenmann of Kirschenmann Farms in Bakersfield, California. He’s a fifth-generation potato farmer who has been growing potatoes for Lay’s Potato Chips since 1974.

And, you can actually find out if Farmer Kirschenmann grew the potatoes in the bag of salt and vinegar chips you love so much (okay, maybe it’s just me). Check out Chip Tracker. I can’t guarantee that Elvis will be at the Grove tomorrow, but it’s worth a shot.
