I drink black coffee (Evan says affectinately, “how adult of you”). One of the first things I learned upon landing down under is how to order coffee. They serve it in the European style – espresso. So if I want a traditional black coffee (or Americano), I order a “Long Black,” which is two shots of espresso with water. A “Short Black” is one shot of espresso. A “Flat White” is espresso with steamed milk and no foam – kind of like an au lait.
