Ask Al Johnson about his rooftop farm and you might get a surprising answer. Unlike his fellow restaurateurs who are rushing to plant herb beds and vegetable gardens atop their restaurants, Johnson’s rooftop farm began almost 30 years ago when his father built a sod style roof and placed his pet goat on it as a gag. The idea proved to be such a boon for business that the family acquired a herd and even trademarked the idea. Check it out:
