A housing program that’s been called one of LA’s biggest successes is under attack. LA's Transit Oriented Communities Program lets developers build denser and taller housing near major bus and train lines, with incentives for including affordable units. The idea is to reduce pollution by getting people out of cars and to tackle the housing shortage that's pushed prices to record levels.

But the program is being challenged by an organization with a long history of fighting new development. The nonprofit Fix the City is suing to end the program, claiming it violates city and state laws.
