Presidential hopeful Kamala Harris was in South Los Angeles on Sunday, speaking to a crowd at Los Angeles Southwest College. Of all the city colleges, it has one of the highest rates of black students attending.

Harris spoke to the diverse crowd Sunday and revealed a plan to close the gender pay gap.

“In America today, women for the same work, for equal work, on average make 80 cents on the dollar, black women make 61 cents on the dollar, Latinas make 53 cents on the dollar and this has got to end,” she said.

Her speech resonated with the room, but you also got the sense that this voting demographic will be galvanized to get Trump out of office in 2020, no matter which Democratic ends up on the ballot.

Attendee Zac Carson said that he liked “pretty much her whole track record. She’s a tough woman, resilient. I like how she’s a little bit different than most politicians, she has a little bit of not just creating the laws, but enforcing the laws.”
