Southern California Edison announced this week it will restart transfer operations of nuclear waste at the San Onofre Nuclear Power Plant in San Diego County. Moving nuclear waste at the decommissioned plant came to a halt in August 2018 after a 50-ton canister of radioactive nuclear waste got dangerously wedged inside a storage cavity and was left suspended for up to an hour. How dangerous is transporting nuclear waste, and what’s the future of nuclear energy?
