    Trump bans TikTok and WeChat. What does this mean for employees and users?

    The video app TikTok has been downloaded nearly 2.5 billion times around the world. In the U.S. alone, it has been downloaded more than 100 million times.

    The video app TikTok has been downloaded nearly 2.5 billion times around the world. In the U.S. alone, it has been downloaded more than 100 million times. It’s especially popular among Gen Z.

    But the Trump administration says the company that owns TikTok is a security threat. The president has issued an executive order banning the company from doing business with U.S. companies starting on September 20 — unless it’s sold to another U.S. company like Microsoft or Twitter. TikTok has 1500 employees nationwide, and their biggest office is in Culver City.

    Trump has also banned the very popular app WeChat.
