While you’re sleeping, John Dwyer is making another record.
I just pre-ordered this record by Amanar De Kidal called Kel Tamasheq. Sounds great, can’t wait to hear the vinyl.

Here’s a note about something I’m doing at the end of August.
I’ve been a fan of musician and artist Alicja Trout for years. I’m guessing I first became aware of her work from a band she had with Jay Reatard called Lost Sounds. Liking those records, I started looking around for other bands she might have been in and quickly found out she’d released a lot of music through several different bands like Sweet Knives, Ultracats, Clears, River City Tanlines, Black Sundays, and C.C. Riders. I found the records and liked all of them. I’ve been playing her music on KCRW for years. It seems she’s always working on something.
Several months ago, she contacted me and said a university near her offered to display her poster and flyer collection. I asked her what she planned on doing with all the materials after they came down. She said the university was interested in archiving them. I’ve found that universities are the bottomless vacuum that disappears collections, soon forgets they have them and by doing so, deprives people of the opportunity to see the pieces. I asked if she would consider letting me archive her collection. She thought it over and said yes. Days later, I went to Memphis and picked the collection up.
As I was photographing the pieces, to make a visual inventory so both Alicja and I would be able to have a basic idea of what was there, it occurred to me that perhaps it might be an idea to put up her collection in Nashville. I contacted my pal Lain York over at Radar615, sent him the folder of images, and asked if he might be interested in hosting this for a couple of days. He said yes and we got to work.
Alicja’s cool collection of posters, flyers and original artwork will be up for viewing on Friday August 28 and Saturday August 29. The space will be open from 4 pm until 9 pm on both dates. I will be there on Saturday.
Radar615 is located at
516 Hagan Street, suite 100
Nashville TN 37203
If you’re in the area and can make the time, please come by.
I must say, I’m looking forward to this event. The flyers and posters are really cool. I’m so thankful to Lain for his enthusiasm and his great venue. He and I have another project we’re working on for November. Later this year, I’ll tell you all about it.
We have a great gathering of tunes for you tonight, which we hope you will enjoy. Have a great weekend and STAY FANATIC!!!

Peanut Butter Wolf goes deep into a lifetime of collecting, pulling from more than 50,000 records alongside a digital archive packed with unreleased music and overlooked discoveries. The founder of Stones Throw Records favors the underdog, moving through hip-hop, funk, soul, electronic music, oddball records, rarities, and sounds that resist easy categorization. Inspired by generations of adventurous DJs and selectors, the show treats digging as an art form and the unexpected find as the ultimate reward. Tune in every third Sunday of the month from 8 to 10pm.
