House music maestro Sonny Fodera has risen through the house music ranks the old fashioned way. He didn't blow up overnight on the web, or with a hit that swept across clubs around the world; but rather by a slow burn, connecting with some of the genre's big names and earning plaudits from longstanding gatekeepers along the way.
Since emerging in 2010, the Australian producer has been on a timeless house tip, with mixes and productions inspired by Chicago greats like Derrick Carter, DJ Sneak, Gene Farris and the “Godfather of House” Frankie Knuckles.
Now, Fodera has unveiled his most formative work to date, Rise, a record that highlights all genres of the house spectrum. Crafted as the soundtrack to perfect summer nights, the album’s infectious grooves and emotive vocals show off Fodera’s signature sound.
Rise, we are thrilled to welcome Sonny Fodera to KCRW with a guest mix on Metropolis.
