A weekend spent with Hiatus Kaiyote’s Love Heart Cheat Code on repeat has us fixated on “Dimitri.” It’s apparently inspired by 20th century classical composer Dimitri Shostakovich who had a piece of shrapnel lodged in his brain which caused him to hear atonal melodies when he turned his head… melodies which would eventually appear in his compositions. And we love to see our favorite Aussie avant-poppers paying homage with their own atonal gems.
