KCRW’s signature music program — defying format since 1977.

We welcome Women’s History Month with the flourish of Buckshot LeFonque’s “I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings,” as requested by KCRW Music’s executive producer Ariana Morgenstern. The 1994 electronic-epic samples Maya Angelou reading her seminal work of the same name over Fela Kuti’s “Beats of No Nation.” With a centerpiece like LeFonque’s, it’s no wonder the rest of today’s tunes are flowing so freely.
Dry Cleaning’s Swampy EP delivers a simmering remix of “Hot Penny Day” from 2022’s Breakthrough Artist Charlotte Adigéry & Bolis Pupul; Australian groovers Surprise Chef drop a seriously smooth new single; and a heady examination of the infinitely psychedelic influence of Pink Floyd’s 1973 master work The Dark Side of the Moon on its 50th anniversary has us feeling inspired.
