Amin David, Legendary OC Latino Civil Rights Leader, Passes

Longtime Orange County Latino activist Amin David passed away over the weekend at 83 after a long fight with cancer. He was the founder of Los Amigos, a group started in 1978 that meets every Wednesday and offers help to whoever needs it. It was through the group that many of the big civil-rights battles involving Latinos in Orange County were strategized and organized, from school fights to immigration, politics and so much more. A Mexican immigrant himself, stories of David's charity are legion across Orange County, and every progressive activist over the past 35 years met him at least once. Meanwhile, Los Amigos still continues, still committed to David's vision of, as he once put it, "We like to help."
