When it comes to conservative bona fides in Orange County, few can match those of John Moorlach. He famously called the 1994 OC municipal bankruptcy before it happened, and rode that clairvoyance to a long political career: OC treasurer from 1995 to 2006, OC supervisor from 2006 to 2015, and state senator for California's 37th district since 2015. But now, the Democratic Party of Orange County--newly emboldened after its historic sweep of the county's congressional races last year--is ready to go after Moorlach in the 2020 elections. Two candidates--newly elected Costa Mesa mayor Katrina Foley and UCI Law School professor Dave Min. Do either of them have a chance against Moorlach?
