At the time, a group of UCLA students, dubbed L.A. Rebellion, created a black film movement to tell more nuanced stories about black life. Films from them, and artists who followed in their footsteps, are being shown at the exhibit space Art + Practice in Leimert Park. The exhibition is called “Time Is Running Out of Time: Experimental Film and Video from the L.A. Rebellion and Today.” It’s on display through September 14.
