    California hits new record for campaign spending

    This year, hundreds of millions of dollars have been poured into ballot measure campaigns. Proposition 8, which would limit the profits of dialysis companies, has faced fierce and well-funded pushback from those companies.

    This year, hundreds of millions of dollars have been poured into ballot measure campaigns. Proposition 8, which would limit the profits of dialysis companies, has faced fierce and well-funded pushback from those companies. The No on Prop 8 campaign has raised a staggering $111 million and may be the most expensive campaign against a single ballot measure in US history. A lot of the money being spent in California this election cycle is coming from outside the state.
