But one of the biggest drug-prevention programs in the country is D.A.R.E. an acronym for Drug Abuse Resistance Education. Despite its ubiquity, D.A.R.E., like many other drug-prevention programs, relies on iffy science to teach drug abstinence to children. The abstinence-only approach has been found to be ineffective when it comes to preventing kids from experimenting with drugs.
