The LA Times’ former parent company, Tronc (now Tribune Publishing), gave a $2.5 million secret payout to Davan Maharaj, the former editor-in-chief and publisher of the paper.

Apparently, Maharaj taped former Tribune chairman Michael Ferro making an anti-semitic comment about LA billionaire Eli Broad. Maharaj’s huge payout came as Tribune was undergoing mass layoffs and losing revenue.
