Over the weekend, President Trump downplayed his involvement in firing Geoffrey Berman, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York. Berman’s office put Trump’s former personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, in jail. His office is still investigating Trump’s current lawyer, Rudy Giuliani.
The scandal broke out late Friday, when Attorney General William Barr announced Berman’s decision to step down. But Berman says he learned of his resignation in Barr’s press release and initially refused to leave.
Now House Democrats say they want answers — as part of a broader investigation into political interference in the Justice Department.
