Journalist's harrowing story of being captured by Somali pirates

For years, Somali pirates would hunt down and take control of international vessels, and demand ransom for the return of the ship and crew. In 2012, Michael Scott Moore was reporting on the prosecution of some of these Somali pirates in Hamburg, Germany when he decided to go to Somalia to interview some pirates and their families. Then Somali pirates kidnapped and held him for more than two and a half years.
