Judd Apatow on ‘King of Staten Island’ and film industry amid COVID-19

Judd Apatow is known for elevating comedians into starring roles and helping their careers. That includes Seth Rogan in “Freaks & Geeks,” Amy Schumer in “Trainwreck,” and Steve Carrell in “The 40-Year-Old Virgin.”

Now it might be SNL’s Pete Davidson’s turn in “The King of Staten Island,” a new film directed by Judd Apatow. Davidson plays a somewhat lost young adult whose firefighter dad died when he was a kid. The film, which is semi-autobiographical, is based off of Davidson’s experience losing his dad during 9/11. Davidson co-wrote the film with Apatow and Dave Sirus.
