    Workout pants, sneakers, swimsuits, and skinny jeans all contain plastic. Spandex, nylon, polyester are common fabrics you see listed on clothing tags, and they're polymers (a.k.a. plastics) made from crude oil.

    Workout pants, sneakers, swimsuits, and skinny jeans all contain plastic. Spandex, nylon, polyester are common fabrics you see listed on clothing tags, and they're polymers (a.k.a. plastics) made from crude oil. Some 60% of textiles produced worldwide have plastic in them. That’s the equivalent of about 3 trillion plastic bottles a year. In today’s world of fast fashion, a lot of these clothes will end up in landfills or in the ocean.
