A cafe named Hasta Muerte in the Fruitvale neighborhood is refusing to serve police officers.
A cafe named Hasta Muerte in the Fruitvale neighborhood is refusing to serve police officers. The cafe owners posted on Instagram: “We know in our experience working on campaigns against police brutality that we are not alone saying that police presence compromises our feeling of physical & emotional safety.” That attitude has led to protests against the owners, and a renewed discussion about the role of police in the community.
