    Sanctuary Cities, Eating Horse Meat, and The Runaways' Jackie Fox

    Why hasn’t an undocumented immigrant with felony convictions been deported? That’s one of the questions posed to Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson in a nearly four-hour House hearing this week. Then, the Runaways’ Jackie Fox, née Jacqueline Fuchs, discusses her sexual assault, when she was barely 16 years old, by Runaways manager Kim Fowley.

    During a nearly four-hour hearing in the House this week, Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson answered questions about the killing, earlier this month, of Kathryn Steinle in San Francisco. One of those questions was why an undocumented immigrant with felony convictions hadn’t been deported. Then, “getting Pluto’d” on our weekly web roundup with Xeni Jardin. Then, during the 70s, The Runaways had hits like “Cherry Bomb” and “Wild Thing.” Guitarist Joan Jett was the breakout star of the band. Bassist Jackie Fox, née Jacqueline Fuchs, joined the band when she was 15 years old. Soon after, she was sexually assaulted by the band’s manager and record producer Kim Fowley. She shares her story. Finally, When it comes to eating animals, why are we OK with some but repulsed by others? Congress has taken a small step toward allowing horse slaughter facilities to open, as early as September and this has made us consider our meat taboos.
