The girl rock group The Runaways rocked the 70s with hits like “Cherry Bomb” and “Wild Thing.” Guitarist Joan Jett was the breakout star of the band. But Jackie Fox, née Jacqueline Fuchs, joined the band on bass when she was 15 years old. On New Year’s Eve, 1975, the Runaways played a small club in Orange County. After the show, the band ended up partying at a motel nearby, and a grown man approached Jackie with a Quaalude and told her she had to take it, no questions asked. Later in the night, record producer and Runaways manager Kim Fowley raped her in front of the entire party—multiple witnesses corroborate the account.
