The U.S. was one of the last countries to ground 737 Max 8s earlier this month, leading to questions about U.S. government officials being too cozy with Boeing. Boeing CEO Dennis Muilenburg released a statement this week saying the company was “humbled and learning” from the crashes. There have also been concerns about the FAA’s self-certification policy that allows Boeing to verify the safety of its own planes.
