They want police to be able to ticket more drivers to make streets safer. A decades-old California law requires cities to post speed limits that show how fast people naturally drive on those roads. But if a speed limit is too low or is more than seven years old, police aren’t allowed to use radar guns, laser guns, or other technology to issue speeding tickets.
