The LA River Is Open
A stretch of the Los Angeles River opened over the weekend for nature walks and kayak excursions. It’s pretty amazing that people are thinking of the river as a place for recreation again. These days, it’s mostly a concrete-lined, graffiti-covered storm drain to the sea. Activists and officials are trying to change that.
