    The tiniest details matter in the stop-motion world of ‘Isle of Dogs’

    Wes Anderson’s latest foray into stop-motion animation has earned him a Best Animated Feature nod this year. “Isle of Dogs” takes place in a futuristic Japan, where an evil mayor has exiled all dogs to a place called Trash Island.

    Wes Anderson’s latest foray into stop-motion animation has earned him a Best Animated Feature nod this year. “Isle of Dogs” takes place in a futuristic Japan, where an evil mayor has exiled all dogs to a place called Trash Island. There, a pack of eccentric ex-house pets are losing hope after months of eating trash. The dogs and human characters are played by extremely detailed puppets. More than 1000 of them were used in the movie, along with hand-painted mini dioramas and countless miniature props.
