Why Sausalito is at the center of a desegregation fight

Sausalito is a wealthy liberal town north of the Golden Gate Bridge in Marin County. California Attorney General Xavier Becerra accused the school district of intentionally segregating students based on their race and income. The rich, mainly white kids go to a charter school. The poor and mainly black and Latino kids go to an underfunded public school less than a mile away. Under pressure from the state, the district has agreed to change things beginning the next school year.
