35th District Assemblyman Jordan Cunningham proposed a state constitutional amendment to reclassify nuclear power as renewable energy. This could keep California’s last nuclear power station open and running.

Diablo Canyon nuclear power station is currently set to undergo a lengthy decommissioning process. Policymakers have long debated what the closure might mean for the local community in terms of lost revenue and jobs.

But, there’s another question still in place. How will California meet its proposed clean air standards while providing for California’s high energy needs?
