  • The films at this year's Toronto International Film Festival offer up plenty of intriguing performances, but there's no clear awards front-runner at this point. Spotlight and Truth, both journalism movies, have both gotten some good buzz, as have The Martian and Black Mass. So far though, we're still waiting for that huge, Oscar-worthy hit.

  • And the market at TIFF has been sluggish this year. There were high hopes for Michael Moore's Where to Invade Next?, but it lacked the confrontational aspect of some of his other films, making it less appealing to buyers. Paramount did pick up a Charlie Kaufman stop-motion film, but overall, the big buys have been scarce.

  • At one point, producer Thomas Tull and his company, Legendary Pictures, left Warner Bros for Universal, but now that relationship appears to have frayed and Tull will be going back to Warner Bros. As Tull moves, so does one of his monster properties -- King Kong. And now that he's headed to Warners, this means that King Kong could star in a movie with Godzilla.
