    • The fight over the fate of Sumner Redstone's media empire begins. Following Redstone's retirement, Les Moonves was named the executive chairman of CBS Corp, and the board of Viacom voted topromote CEO Philippe Dauman to executive chairman of that corporation. Dauman's promotion goes in direct contradiction to the wishes of Redstone's daughter, Shari.

    • Television producer and director Ryan Murphy, known for Glee and American Horror Story," has pledged to make at least half of his TV directors women or minorities through his new foundation Half.
