Hollywood news banter: Is ‘Game of Thrones’ a category killer?

    Emmy nomination voting is open.

Emmy nomination voting is open. ‘Game of Thrones’ is considered a shoo-in for Best Drama Series--so much so that other series like ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ and ‘Stranger Things’ are debuting this summer, so as not to have to compete against the HBO megahit. Even though critics didn’t love the final season, will it still reign supreme?

    • And a super competitive category--Best Limited Series--was on life support just a few years ago. Now, it’s jam packed with possible contenders--including Netflix’s ‘When They See Us,’ HBO’s ‘Chernobyl’ and FX’s ‘Fosse/Verdon.’

    • In Europe, some awkward alliances are forming between broadcasters from different countries as they come together in an attempt to do battle with Netflix and other forthcoming global streamers.
