    Journalists at the L.A. Times voted overwhelmingly today to unionize, the first time they have done so in more than 130 years.

    Also this week, the paper's CEO and Publisher Ross Levinsohn voluntarily went on unpaid leave following new revelations of sexual misconduct in the workplace. There are also some big layoffs expected at the Southern California News Group which manages papers including the L.A. Daily News. On the heels of big sales, firings and layoffs at L.A. Magazine and L.A. Weekly, is the nation’s second-largest city losing its journalistic institutions?
