Weeks have turned into months of a sulfuric stench in Porter Ranch, a pretty idyllic part of the northern San Fernando Valley. A gas leak in the region started small, with a few residents complaining. Now, hundreds of homeowners – and thousands of school children – have been relocated out of the area and the tab keeps rising along with the region’s blood pressure. People want answers as to why the leak continues, what caused it, how it could’ve been avoided, and what the state is going to do about it. KCRW's Steve Chiotakis spoke with LA Weekly reporter Gene Maddaus and KCRW’s Saul Gonzalez on what went wrong in Porter Ranch.
