Despite last night’s close loss in the Senate, there’s widespread public support, and Republicans promise to bring it up again as soon as they can. It’s been years since environmentalists first made it a powerful symbol of their war against climate change, but does it still matter? We look at the impact on the ground and the changing economics of oil and gas — in both Canada and the United States.
