Ethical Cycling

Randy Cohen caused a firestorm recently with a piece on the op-ed page of the New York Times.  That paper's former "ethicist," and a bicycle rider, he wrote, "I routinely run red lights, and so do you" [even though] "my behavior vexes pedestrians, drivers and even some of my fellow cyclists."

Randy Cohen caused a firestorm recently with a piece on the op-ed page of the New York Times. That paper's former "ethicist," and a bicycle rider, he wrote, "I routinely run red lights, and so do you" [even though] "my behavior vexes pedestrians, drivers and even some of my fellow cyclists." He argued that, while it is illegal, it is "ethical." We asked the question on KCRW's Facebook page and got 90 answers in less than an hour.
