    Indictment Clouds Future of LA Sheriff

    Indicted on federal charges of mail fraud, witness tampering and conspiracy, the Sheriff pleaded not guilty yesterday. Today, after insisting he’d stay on the job, he said he’ll take a sixty-day leave of absence to fight the charges.
